Land & Memory explores the landscapes, roads, fields, forests, waterways, and rural spaces that shape the way I remember and understand a place. Rooted especially in the landscapes of Georgia and the American South, these works are less about documenting a location exactly as it appears and more about capturing what it feels like to have known it.
Here, landscape becomes its own kind of storyteller—holding traces of the people, histories, seasons, and memories that have passed through it.
The Farmers Building
A colorful study of a familiar Athens building, capturing the character found in the city’s everyday architecture. The piece reflects my interest in preserving a sense of place through the structures that become part of a community’s visual memory.
The Morton Theater
A study of Athens’ historic Morton Theatre, focusing on the architecture and presence of a building that has witnessed generations of the city changing around it. A piece about history surviving within the modern landscape.
The Arches
A view through the structure of an old railroad bridge, where industrial lines frame the landscape beyond. The piece explores the meeting point between nature, infrastructure, and the traces people leave across a place.
House Sketch Study
A quiet architectural study of an aging rural residence, worn by time but still carrying the character of the people and community that once surrounded it. The piece reflects my fascination with ordinary buildings as vessels for local memory.
