Figures & Becoming
The figure can carry a story without ever speaking.
Figures & Becoming explores identity, emotion, femininity, transformation, and the experience of becoming. Through portraits, character studies, and more symbolic figurative work, I’m interested in what the body, expression, posture, and surrounding imagery can reveal about a person or an imagined character.
Some figures come from observation, others from imagination, and some sit somewhere between the two—using the human form as another way to tell a story.
For the artwork selection, I would be broader than just traditional portraits. This gallery can include your Victorian skeleton tea piece, self-portraits, expressive portraits, feminine figures, pregnancy/motherhood work as you create it, symbolic figures, floral/botanical figures, and even somewhat surreal character studies.

Tea With Mortality
A quiet, darkly playful study of mortality made strangely ordinary. The piece contrasts the permanence of death with the familiar comfort of sitting down for a cup of tea.

Becoming
A portrait centered on introspection and identity, capturing the uncertain space between who we have been and who we are becoming.

Memento Mori
A demon’s hand grips a human skull in a stark meeting of the supernatural and the mortal. The piece explores mortality, power, and the inevitability of death.

The Bargin
A demon’s hand closes around a coin, turning a simple object into a symbol of temptation, greed, and exchange. The piece asks what we are willing to give for the things we desire.

The Invocation
A demon’s hand clutches a spellbook, suggesting a ritual already begun—or one that perhaps should never have been opened. A study of forbidden knowledge, power, and the temptation to reach beyond the known.

Beautiful Poison
A witch’s hand gently holds an angel’s trumpet, pairing delicate beauty with hidden danger. A study of poisonous botanicals, magic, and the deceptive beauty of the natural world.

Beyond the Veil
Originally created as cover art for a developing comic, this character portrait explores mystery, atmosphere, and visual storytelling. Though the larger project is currently on hold, the piece stands as its own glimpse into an unfinished world.

The Thunderer
A portrayal of Thor with Mjölnir, inspired by the ancient Norse god rather than his modern superhero counterpart. The piece explores strength, myth, and the enduring presence of old gods in contemporary imagination.

Hatchling
A medieval-inspired maiden cradles the dragon she hatched and raised as her companion. Instead of beast and conqueror, the piece imagines a relationship built on trust, protection, and an unlikely bond.

Deadly Remedy
An Athens townie cryptid with an endless love of booze and a habit of appearing wherever the drinks are flowing. A playful piece of local folklore inspired by the strange, colorful spirit of Athens, Georgia.

The Infernal Offering
A demonic hand presents a symbol associated with Baphomet, combining occult imagery with a dramatic study of gesture and form. The piece explores the darker edge of supernatural and symbolic storytelling.
A witch’s hand holds water hemlock, transforming one of nature’s most dangerous plants into an image of dark botanical beauty. The piece explores the thin boundary between medicine, poison, nature, and magic.

The Winged Guardian
A guardian stands at the edge of an old woodland road, staff in hand, somewhere between guide and gatekeeper. Part of Where the Wild Remembers, this piece imagines the Southern landscape as a place where forgotten paths can still hold stories—and something may still be watching over them.

Wildhearted
A fiery-haired woman becomes a portrait of independence, confidence, and untamed personality. An expressive character study celebrating the beauty of being entirely oneself.

The Serpent at World’s End
Jörmungandr, the great World Serpent of Norse mythology, rises from the sea. A portrayal of the ancient creature whose fate is bound to Thor, Ragnarök, and the ending—and renewal—of the world.
